2. Trucking
$130.00 per billable hour
Billed on actual time. Fort Saskatchewan tandem runs have historically started around a 1.25 hour minimum and commonly land near 1.5 hours. Neither is a guaranteed flat rate.

4. Fees & GST
3% environmental fee, then 5% GST
Two separate charges, not one. The 3% environmental fee is calculated on material plus trucking. GST of 5% is then applied on top. Both are itemized on your quote.
How trucking time is set: trucking is billed on the actual time the run takes, using the trucking company's billing. It is not a flat delivery fee and it is not capped. Submit your address and we confirm the time before you pay anything.
What affects how long a delivery takes
Because trucking is billed by time, it helps to know what moves the clock. The main factors:
- Distance from the pit to your site. Fort Saskatchewan runs are the shortest. Sherwood Park, Edmonton and rural acreages take longer.
- Loading time at the pit, including any queue when the pit is busy.
- Truck type. End dumps carry more per trip but take longer to load and unload than a tandem.
- Number of loads. Multi-load orders multiply the run time.
- Site access and unloading. Tight approaches, gates, spotting the truck and waiting for someone to direct the driver all add time.
- Traffic, road bans and weather, which can slow a run or restrict payload.
Anything that keeps the truck waiting on site, such as a locked gate, blocked access or nobody available to confirm the dump location, is billable at the same trucking and fuel rates. Having the spot cleared and someone reachable is the single easiest way to keep your cost down.
How the fuel surcharge works
The fuel surcharge is charged per trucking hour. The bracket is set from the twice-monthly average price of diesel, using UFA Fort Saskatchewan daily retail diesel prices including carbon tax.

Two things worth noting. The environmental fee is 3% of material plus trucking only, not of the fuel surcharge. GST is then 5% of everything above it, fuel surcharge included. The environmental fee and GST are separate charges, not a combined 8%.

About the material
A Compactable Base for Residential and Commercial Work
20mm road crush is a mixture of fractured gravel and fines designed to grade and compact into a firm base. It is commonly used beneath driveways, parking pads, pavers, concrete work, retaining walls and other prepared surfaces. Product appearance and exact composition can vary naturally between loads.
You may also hear it called 3/4 inch road crush, crushed gravel or compactable road base. It is not a decorative rock. The fines are what let it lock together and hold a grade.

Confirm a Safe Dumping Location Before Delivery
This is the part that causes the most problems when it gets skipped. Please read it.
- Material is delivered loose in one pile.
- Spreading, grading and placement are not included.
- You provide current photos and a written description of the proposed dumping location.
- The requested location needs a safe, accessible hard surface or prepared site.
- Rural access must safely accommodate the assigned truck.
- The driver makes the final decision about safe access and unloading.
- Trucks will not be directed over soft lawns, septic fields, unsafe culverts, questionable ground, or areas without adequate clearance.
- You are responsible for property permission, gate access, overhead clearance, and identifying underground or private infrastructure.

How much can one truck carry?
Tandem trucks carry approximately 12 to 15 cubic yards and end dumps approximately 25 to 28 cubic yards, subject to legal payload, material weight and truck configuration.
Can the driver spread the road crush?
No. Delivery is dumped loose in one driver-approved location. Spreading, placement and grading are not included.
How far ahead should I book?
Plan to book at least 48 hours ahead. Delivery is scheduled weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., subject to availability.

- Waiting time caused by locked gates, blocked access, unavailable contacts or inaccurate instructions is billed using the applicable trucking and fuel surcharge rates.
- Failed delivery caused by unsafe access, inaccurate information or an unavailable customer is non-refundable to the extent costs have already been incurred.
- Redelivery requires a new delivery charge.
Delivery timing remains subject to supplier inventory, truck availability, site access and weather.
